The Somalia Urban Resilience Project Phase II (SURP II) aims to enhance the resilience of urban areas by strengthening the capacity of municipalities and financing critical urban infrastructure and services.
The project focuses on providing immediate income generation opportunities for the urban poor and internally displaced persons (IDPs), thereby improving public service delivery and access to climate-resilient infrastructure.
Additionally, it seeks to ensure an effective response to crises or emergencies in selected regions.
With a total project cost of US$ 50.00 million, SURP II will be implemented by various municipalities across Somalia, including Baidoa, Beledweyne, and Kismayo, among others.
The project is designed to utilize the country's Public Financial Management systems to bolster municipal governance and deliver essential services through subnational government frameworks, ultimately contributing to sustainable urban development in the region.
