The Somalia Urban Resilience Project Phase II (SURP II) aims to enhance the resilience of urban areas by strengthening municipal governance and improving public service delivery.
The project focuses on building the capacity of municipalities, promoting effective urban planning, and financing essential urban infrastructure and services.
Additionally, it seeks to generate short-term income opportunities for local communities, thereby supporting the reconstruction of key urban infrastructure in targeted regions.
With a total project cost of US$ 110.00 million, SURP II will be implemented by various municipalities including Baidoa, Mogadishu, Garowe, and Kismayo.
The initiative is designed to utilize the country's Public Financial Management systems to ensure effective governance and service delivery at the municipal level, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of urban areas in Somalia.
