Windle International Somalia (WISOM) is inviting qualified contractors to submit bids for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Qardo Meat Market Facility.
This project encompasses the construction of butcher worktops, installation of solar power systems, and provision of cold storage equipment.
The initiative aims to enhance hygiene standards, improve meat handling practices, and increase operational efficiency within the facility, thereby strengthening the local livestock and meat value chain.
The project is part of the Advancing Circular Technologies for Infrastructure and Value-chain Enhancement (ACTIVE) Project, funded by the European Union, which focuses on integrating renewable energy solutions to promote sustainable development in Somalia.
The ACTIVE Project is designed to catalyze green economic growth by expanding access to reliable and sustainable energy across agriculture, livestock, and fisheries value chains.
By embedding renewable energy technologies, the project aims to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve productivity for smallholder farmers and agribusiness actors.
The rehabilitation of the Qardo Meat Market Facility will improve hygiene standards, meat handling practices, and storage capacity, ultimately creating a more resilient and sustainable operation for local livestock producers and meat traders.
